October 2003 Editorial published in the medical journal, The Lancet, criticized the marketing tactics used to introduce the drug, as well as the data supporting its efficacy. 2004 The consumer interest organization, Public Citizen, petitions the FDA to withdraw Crestor from the US market. March 11, 2005 FDA denies petition by Public Citizen, keeping Crestor on the market. February 2010 The FDA approves Crestor for the primary prevention of cardiovascular events. |
